BEAT DISCOURAGEMENT!

Beat Discouragement

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within

me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.”

Psalm 43:5

1. Believe the promises of God -

“…he has granted to us his precious and very great promises: that through

these you become partakers of the divine nature…” 2 Peter 1:4

* When discouraged Christians are tempted to doubt the Scriptures.

* The Word assures us that the promises will bring hope – Romans 8:28.

* Beat discouragement by believing God’s Word – we must read it, claim it,

meditate on it, apply it, and memorize it.

2. Expect the presence of God –

“I will never leave you, nor forsake you…the Lord is my helper” Hebrews 13:5-6

* When discouraged Christians are tempted to doubt God’s salvation.

* We must depend on FAITH not FEELINGS.

* Beat discouragement by expecting God’s presence – you are not alone!

3. Accept the peace of God –

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:7

* When discouraged its easy not accept the peace God offers and hold on to

   negative attitudes.

* We need to look for the good things in life, not the bad; not what is lost but what

   is left.

* Beat discouragement by simply accepting His peace – John 14:27.

4. Triumph with praise to God –

“Hope in God: for I shall again praise him” Psalm 43:5

* When discouraged we often mope in self-pity.

* Praise enables us to beat discouragement by focusingon the Lord rather than

  ourselves.

* Praising God gives us a new perspective – Psalm 71:14.
