How to be Saved!

In sports there is always the need to execute the “fundamentals” – knowing what to do and doing it – there are no special formulas, but there are certain basics to know and do. The same is true in spiritual matters – no formulas, just some basics to know and do.

WHAT YOU MUST KNOW

You must know and understand that you are a sinner who is hopelessly lost and under the judgment of death. Spiritual death is everlasting separation from God in hell (Romans 3:23; 6:23; John 3:18-19; Matthew 25:41,46).

You must know and understand that you cannot save yourself by any effort of your own (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 4:6; Titus 3:5).

You must know and understand that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, died on the cross and rose from the dead to pay the penalty for your sins (Romans 5:8; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

WHAT YOU MUST DO

You must admit to God that you have sinned and deserve the penalty of death (Romans 3:23).

You must accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior (John 1:12).

You must acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord by confessing Him with your mouth (Romans 10:9-10).

WHAT GOD WILL DO

God will save you (Romans 10:13).

God will forgive all your sins (Ephesians 1:7).

God will give you eternal life (John 10:28).

DO YOU WANT TO BE SAVED?

If so, pray (using your own words): Jesus, I have sinned against You and I deserve death. I believe You died in my place to pay the penalty for all my sins. I ask You to be merciful to me and save me. I trust You as my Savior and Lord, and I commit my life to You. Amen.

If you prayed this prayer and believed by faith that Jesus has saved you and has come into your life as your Savior, tell someone. Write us here at Time-Out Sports Ministries and we’ll send you some free Bible studies to help you get to know Jesus better. We want to rejoice with you.
