MAKING CHRIST THE CENTER OF YOUR LIFE
TEXT: Galatians 2:20
We continue the study on being intentional about life. The intent of the
series is to encourage you to live lives that are not characterized by default,
but rather by decision. Today we’re looking at making Christ the center of our
lives - This is easy to talk about, but it really takes decisive effort - it
takes decisive yielding of our lives and wills to the plan of God, and not our
own program - I want to give you some very practical ways to implement this –
JESUS IS OUR FOCUS
• “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives
in me” • Jesus is the supreme focus of the Bible - from Genesis to Revelation,
God reveals His plan to bring a Redeemer who would not only bring forgiveness of
sins and salvation, but would rule over all • If Christ does not reign over the
little things in our lives, He does not reign at all • The Surrendered Life •
Focusing on Jesus puts everything in perspective! • The root meaning of
commitment simply means to follow through!
JESUS IS OUR BOSS
• “Christ lives in me” • John 8:31-32 • If you claim to be a Christian, a
follower of Christ, then you hold to His teachings - not just believing, but
obeying • The Strengthened Life • Whatever you do, do it whole-heartedly because
half-hearted effort gains only half-hearted results! • Excellence holds you to a
higher standard – never excuse yourself!
JESUS IS OUR SOURCE
• “The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved
me and gave himself for me” • Jesus makes life possible - not only did He create
it, He sustains it • He’s the source of not only your life, but of your talents,
abilities, energies, desires, & interests • The Secured Life • The world rewards
success but God rewards faithfulness! • Having Jesus with you, there’s nothing
to fear ahead of you!
Conclusion
Let Galatians 2:20 remind you, that to live an intentional life you have to
surrender ALL to Jesus to find strength and security for this life. Each day ask
yourself the simple question, “Am I living an intentional life in the power of
Christ?”
