Pressing On!

Read: Philippians 3:14

Paul states “pressing on” is based on a twofold decision – (1) forgetting and (2) reaching“one thing I do…I press on” What is the call of God for your life?  In it’s most simplistic form – “to know God and make Him known”

How is this done?  “in Christ Jesus”

First, LIVE in Him.

  • Read: II Corinthians 5:17
  • To “be” in Christ is to have a personal Savior with a new life, new hope, new desires, and new ambitions.

Second, LEARN from Him.

  • Read: Romans 15:4
  • He teaches from His Word - He leads, He guides, and He directs you.
  • Read: Psalm 37:23

Third, LEAN on Him.

  • Read: Proverbs 3:5
  • You need not worry about the past, present, or future as long as you depend upon the Lord daily.
 Fourth, LISTEN to Him.

·        Read: John 10:3
·        Remember prayer is a dialogue not a monologue.
·        True communication is sharing and listening.

Fifth, LABOR with Him.

·        Read: I Corinthians 3:9
·        God has never called anyone to walk alone.
·        Jesus promises He will be with us.
·        Read:  Matthew 28:20 & Hebrews 13:5

Sixth, LOOK for Him.

  • Read: Titus 2:13
  • Watch with expectation for the Lord to return.
  • We don’t know the day or the hour but we do know He’s coming
  • Read: Matthew 24:44

FINAL THOUGHT

One of Christianity’s most serious evils may be the sin of “sermon listening.” We hear but do not act.  The Lord wants us to be “living sermons” pressing on – vibrant in compassion, service, and worship.  Christianity is not a fraternity of fans of the faith but faithful followers in Christ Jesus.
