PRAY SPECIFICALLY!

“Prove me in this . . . [and see] if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until there is no more need” - Malachi 3:10

Former Notre Dame football coach Knute Rockne said, “I’ve found that prayers work best when you have big players.” Maybe when it comes to football big players do make the difference in prayer but in the game of life, I’ve discovered the bottom line to getting prayers answered.

As I look back on the times God has answered my prayers, I know why I got the answer. It was because I prayed the right prayer. I was specific with God when I prayed.

In Malachi 3:10 the Lord says, “Prove me in this . . . [and see] if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until there is no more need.” We discover the power of God to provide for us when we prove Him, and the way to prove God is to be specific.

I have gotten into the habit of proving God. I plant the seeds of faith to Him for a specific need and say, “Lord, I commit this need to You and trust by faith You will meet this need.” And I get specific answers, because I pray specific prayers.

When you get down to business with God and pray specifically, you’re going to have your needs met. God will do as He promised in Malachi 3:10. Your prayers will be answered when you let the Lord know exactly what it is you need.

1.     How is your prayer life?

2.     Do you have a specific time you go to God in prayer?

3.     Think back, when was the last time God answered your prayer . . . what made the difference?

“Teach me to pray specifically, Lord. In Your name, Amen.”
