FCA Impact Play: The Sign of Jonah
READY:
“For
as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge
fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in
the heart of the earth” –Matthew 12:40
SET:
The
scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus to perform a miracle to prove
His deity, He refused their request. He did, however, predict
that as Jonah spent three days and nights in a great fish, so He
would spend the same amount of time in the earth (Matthew
12:40). Like the prophet Jonah, who was delivered from the
confines of a strange tomb (the whale), the Lord in His
resurrected body came out of the tomb a victor.
As a
FCA huddle coach many students have asked me to prove that Jesus
is alive. My answer that if they will earnestly pray and ask
Jesus to prove Himself to them, He will I in three ways!
-
He
will prove He is ABLE – able to forgive, restore, and raise
up – He is able to totally and completely change every heart
that earnestly seeks Him.
-
He
will prove He is AVAILABLE – available to “live the
difference” through every seeking heart – a living
difference between hope and hopelessness; belief and
unbelief; and usefulness and uselessness.
-
He
will prove He is ALIVE – He will personally come into every
seeking heart – think of it – “never alone again!” - being
able to say: “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in
the world” (1 John 4:4) or “I can do all things through Him
[Jesus] who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)- Praise
Jesus!!!!!
To a
doubting world Jesus has given the “Sign of Jonah” – He is risen
indeed!
GO:
1. What does the resurrection mean to you?
2. Have you sought Jesus earnestly with all your heart?
3. Is He living the difference through your life?
WORKOUT:
2 Chronicles 15:2
Hosea 10:12
Acts 17:27
OVERTIME:
Lord, I want my life to be totally and completely sold out to
You. Do whatever it takes to make that happen. Amen.
